BELIEFS
Maranatha Church of Jacksonville is a Christian Church that worships Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.
CORE VERSE:
1 Thessalonians 2:8
“Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well.”
CORE PRACTICES:
WORSHIP – Correctly responding to Jesus
DISCIPLESHIP – Helping each other become more like Jesus
MISSION – Sharing Jesus with the world
CORE BELIEFS:
We believe the Bible is the inspired and only infallible and authoritative written Word of God.
We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus, The Messiah, Jesus the Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, in His bodily future return to this earth in power and glory to rule a thousand years.
We believe the only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the precious Blood of Christ.
We believe regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential for personal salvation.
We believe the redemptive work of Christ on the cross provides healing of the human body in answer to believing prayer.
We believe the baptism of the Holy Spirit, according to Acts 2:4, is given to believers who ask for it.
We believe in the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the believer is enabled to live a holy life.
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the unsaved, the one to everlasting life the other to everlasting damnation.
Further, we align ourselves with the credal history of the Church as represented in the Nicene Creed:
We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made,
of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven:
by the power of the Holy Spirit
he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary,
and was made man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. Amen.
*We are part of a greater community of churches and missionaries called the Malachi Network. These beliefs are in agreement with this network.
